Appreciation Hall is located at Foothill College, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills, CA 94022 in San Mateo County. It was originally built in 1961. Upon completion in September, it was clear that Foothill School Board and its administration had created something special and enduring for its community. Appreciation Hall seats approximately 200 people that include ADA seating. This facility is used for the College’s Fine Art and Communication Division.
For our project with Foothill College’s Appreciation Hall, we upgraded the mechanical system to the existing building with architectural modifications to support this upgrade. Modifications were made to the interior walls, doors, ceilings, and finishes that were compliant with current life safety codes. We improved and modified building systems (HVAC, Electrical, and Lighting,) and relocated fire sprinkler heads. We removed and replaced the roof with PVC roofing and wood shakes. We painted the exterior of the building. The carpet and trim were removed, disposed, and replaced in the Lecture Hall and lobby.
We removed and replaced existing fixed audience seating with brand new Hussey seating. The original subcontractor who was to refurbish the seating went out of business during the submittal approval process. This setback led to Southwest Construction having to complete this scope of work with the help of another subcontractor to install the new seats instead of refurbished seating.
