The Frank Hagel Federal Building Entry Project had a variety of construction, which included demolition and new construction for the three entries (Main, Nevin, and Marina).
The building was occupied by the Social Security Administration, which had to remain fully operational during construction. We had to make extreme accommodations to ensure that the personnel and public were safe and had efficient entry/exit to the building at all times. By using temporary tunnels and diverting personnel to different accesses, we were able to replace entries without shutting down any services. Other challenges included scheduling all work around all the tenant’s activities in the building. Deliveries had to be scheduled for off-hours due to the high security and heavily used section of the building.
All employees, even our subcontractors, who worked in this building, had to receive an approved security clearance that consisted of background checks.
Work done on this project included new and modifications to the following:
- Ceilings Terrazzo Flooring
- Millwork
- Security Cameras
- Security Turnstiles
- X-ray Detection Equipment by Smith Detections
- Mechanical
- Electrical
- Fire/Life Safety
- Exterior Waterproofing
- Walk off mats with new drainage
- Complete Store Front which included glass revolving doors
- All Cabinetry was made to be bullet proof with Kevlar
The work required close coordination of the activities of our thirteen (13) subcontractors.
All the work was completed without any accidents.
